Michael Kenwood Consulting is a special kind of consulting firm of policy advisors. It was started as an “Association of Independent Consultants” inspired by a European experience fostered by the late Catalonian engineer Rafael Escolá. Upon his retirement after a long and illustrious career, Escolá found himself still full of energy and ideas. He went into consulting for his former engineering firm based in Northern Spain and for others in several European countries. In time he discovered many other friends and former colleagues in his same situation, and founded with them a consulting group or association of retired professionals that garnered great success for those involved and for the clients using their seasoned and savvy services. This approach has found a home in Washington, D.C., where Michael Kenwood Consulting (MKC) pools the talents of a wide variety of experts, who work or have worked for the U.S. Government and Congress, for diplomatic missions from countries all over the world represented in the city, for multilateral institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Organization of American States, the Pan American Health Organization and many others headquartered in the District of Columbia, as well as university professors and other members of Academia that frequently visit the U.S. Capital. MKC is thus able to offer expertise in a vast array of fields useful to governments, public entities and large corporations. Except for a small core of support staff, MKC as such does not exist permanently. It is said that “Michael Kenwood is born and dies” with the duration of each contract or mandate. This is so because rarely will the same team of experts coincide on different projects. Knowing the sensitivity of many official matters, MKC makes a point of observing strict confidentiality in all aspects of the work our experts do for our clients. That is one of our trademarks.
